How Not to Start a Monday

First, I was late for work when I couldn’t find my bloomin’ car keys and had to leg it to the train station instead. When I finally got to work and sat down, I noticed my empty pen caddy.

Where was my bloody favorite pen? Gone missing again? And by “missing”, I mean, one of my coworkers nicked off with it again! I thought I knew which dodgy coworker might be responsible…and I needed to put paid to this pen-stealing situation before I really lost it. So then, as I rolled back in anger and disgust, I also noticed my normal desk chair had been swapped out with a wonky one! Now I was really gutted! To try to calm down (my pen-snatching coworker wasn’t due in for another hour and so, for the time being, my rage had to be contained) I decided to go make some copies I needed for the day.
So I go round to the bloody copier, and wouldn’t you know it—it was out of ink, and I needed those copies for a meeting first thing! I’ve really had the hard line today, and it was barely the first coffee break!

Well, I guess I’d be in the right if I’d thrown a bit of a tantrum and really went barmy, but that wasn’t going to get my pen back or the copies made. So I sucked it up, sat down in the wonky chair, grabbed an inferior pen, and made a list of everything the office needed. Then, I calmly revised the list (as in, scratched off “lobotomy” for my pen-stealing coworker), and grabbed my mouse. After all, if I was to be the only competent person in the office, I needed to take control. Any good soldier knows he (or she) who controls the supplies wins the battle! I checked out VoucherGurus.co.uk, grabbed some voucher codes, and I placed an order with Staples.co.uk, and placed a second order with Euroffice.co.uk. That covered everything on my list (minus the lobotomy), and made me feel a bit better all at once. If someone was bound and determined to scrump my blimey pen, I figured I’d just get an entire box of them! That way everyone can have their own, and leave mine bloody well alone! The wonky chair is on its way out too; that is another office supply I am getting delivered (for free!) right to our office door. Plus, both sites offer bundle savings on larger orders.

I will never sweat a stolen pen again, as long as I have Staples and Euroffice in my corner. I may not LOVE my job, but I sure do a cracking-good job of it! And these sites make it all the easier.

Do yourself a favor and order your office supplies online, lest you live by Sod’s Law the rest of your natural life! I prefer to take matters into my own capable hands…how about you?
